Android Facebook Application

Default Android Facebook application
This application is the compact android version of face book, which typically operates as the popular social networking system itself; let’s review some of the features of the application:
• Physical appearance/ first impression
The icon suggests you will get the same features of your favorite face book. Fair enough, let’s open the application and see how it really works. On the first navigation you will find a few of the features of face book supported: News feed, friend list, photos, take photo, profile and notification. Browsing each of the categories you will find the information classified in nice columns, you have access to a lot of things; in settings section you can modify the ringer for notifications, refresh interval, syncing contacts, etc. but wait … have we tried everything?
• Shortcomings/ Disadvantages o Embedded Adobe flash player You can watch YouTube videos shared on face book but when it comes to flash files, the android version of face book still does not support adobe flash player. When you click on download flash player you see “Not available for your device” o Another shortcoming or disadvantage of Android face book is a universal issue known to all Nexus one users. Unless you “Root” you device, you cannot install language packs on it for the time being, this creates problems in applications such as messaging, face book, etc. All of us have friends who write in other languages and we don’t like to see squares in their status. o The notifications from the groups you are a member or the administrator of are not implemented in mobile version. Meaning; you don’t interact with your favorite groups. Let’s say you have created a group and you need to upload a photo or a photo you just took with your mobile phone on the group’s page. It is not possible for the time being, You can only upload texts and photos to your profile page. Unfortunately you have to wait and upload it to your pc or laptop in which you have full access to facebook. o Access to games such as Farmville, Mafia wars, etc is not available yet. o The widget shows only the Status of your friends, it sounds good but what if you need to see the notifications, pictures and not only the status? Overall the application has its pro and cons, the features outweigh the shortcomings which seem to be addressed in near future. For the time being you can enjoy having access to your facebook account on a big screen.
